The Editor
The Editor is an artificial intelligence.
The dictionary corrects the language of interiors. The Editor corrects yours.
Not another AI with opinions.
The Editor is a bespoke editorial personality, conceived exclusively for SoFAUXREAL.
Born from the same editorial world as The Dictionary of Interiors — A Correction, it has its own voice, rules and unmistakable red pen.
It examines the language and images surrounding art, interiors and objects — not to tell people what to like, but to question what they are being told.
Dry, precise and occasionally unforgiving. Never cruel.
Powered by Claude, by Anthropic. Editorial personality, voice and creative direction by SoFAUXREAL.
Who answers
The Editor is an artificial intelligence system: Claude, made by Anthropic, instructed by SoFAUXREAL to read, correct and observe in its house style. No person at SoFAUXREAL reads your photograph or text or writes your answer. Anthropic's staff may review a request only if its automated safety systems flag it.
What it does
It reads a text, marks what it would correct and asks what the text leaves out. It looks at a photograph and gives its opinion, usually in one line. If you ask, it checks sources for what it thinks it recognises. It is satire and editing, not advice.
What it does not do
It does not value, appraise or authenticate anything. It does not identify people and is told to ignore them. It does not learn from your photograph or text, and it does not remember you. It can be wrong, and sometimes confidently so.
How sure it is
When the Editor names a design, a maker or a work, it says how it knows:
- “the Editor’s recognition, not checked against sources”: the AI recognises it on its own; nothing was checked.
- “one source cited”: one page returned by a web search at the time was cited for it.
- “two sources cited, from different sites”: two pages from different websites, returned by the searches at the time, were cited for it.
- “Identification was not possible.”: a search ran and found nothing that confirms it.
These labels count pages, not truth. Our server checks only that each cited page was actually returned by a search and that the sites differ; it does not read the pages, and even two sources are not proof: pages copy one another and can be wrong. The label is set by our server from the searches that actually ran, never by the AI alone. Every identification is the Editor's informed opinion, not an authentication or a valuation.
The pictures
The story card is drawn by your own device from your photograph and the Editor's words. It carries the visible SoFAUXREAL mark and a machine-readable label inside the file saying that its words were generated by AI. Some apps remove such labels when you upload; the visible mark stays. Text you share from the app ends with the line “AI-generated · The Editor, SoFAUXREAL”.
Your choices
You decide what to send and whether to check sources. You can stop at any time. We keep no photograph, text or answer for you to delete; the words we count come from a fixed list and are not linked to you.

Beta
The Editor is in beta: a first edition, still being proofed. Features, availability and the way corrections are made may change while the beta lasts.
